ARTISTIC DIRECTOR'S WORD
Transatlantique aims to uncover new performance spaces for choreographic works so as to decentralize and broaden the reach of culture and dance in Montréal and attract new audiences. Transatlantique also favors the diversity of artistic approaches by generating opportunities for exchange between choreographers from various countries.
Set in unusual venues in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood from September 19th to the 24th, the Transatlantique Montréal 2005 event presents outstanding works by four companies from Montréal, New York, Barcelona and Paris. The choreographers chosen for this edition of Transatlantique explore movement as a key element of their art, aiming thus to use their writing and expression as a mirror for our modern society, in a constant whirl. Furthermore, Transatlantique Montréal 2005 features a New Faces section, with six imaginative Quebec choreographers who are as daring as they are entertaining.
Transatlantique Montréal 2005 is a meeting place, an open window to the dance world, a crucible for exchange between artists, audiences and cultural circles.
I wish everyone some inspiring discoveries.
